Hi! My name is Emi Maycock, PLMHP, PCMSW and I am a mental health therapist and social worker. I am a graduate of the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska Omaha with both my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and my Master’s Degree in Social Work. Throughout my professional experiences I have learned valuable information about myself, my perspective, and my perception of the world around me. I truly believe the knowledge I have acquired throughout professional career (along with the help of my own wonderful therapist) has helped me become a better version of myself.
I have experience working with children and families, as well as in a correctional facility. Over the years I have grown to love social work and all the diverse experiences my social work career has allowed me to experience. The knowledge I have gained throughout my professional therapeutic experience has taught me not only how important mental health is, but also of the power of healing and the peace therapy can bring to your life! This knowledge has inspired me to work as a mental health therapist.
I am passionate about helping people learn how to heal from and overcome trauma. Everyone deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life. However, this goal is not always as easily achieved as it seems to be. I like to look at mental health therapy as a key to help unlock your full potential and allow you to thrive just as you are! As a therapist I believe that it is important to teach a wide variety of skills to help combat and overcome mental health concerns. Mental health therapy is not a “one shoe fits all” process and that is why I will prioritize taking the time to truly learn about you and customize your therapeutic experience to specifically fit your personal needs. I look at differences amongst us as something to be celebrated and embraced! How boring would the world be if we all thought the same way and liked the same things? I will happily accept you as you are and hope to have the honor of truly getting to know and celebrate you.
My mission at Omaha Trauma Therapy is to prioritize creating a safe space for you to feel comfortable, validated and accepted. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), trained in traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and working towards my Addictions/Gambling Certificate. I will work alongside you to address your concerns, validate your feelings, develop a treatment plan, and help you reach your personal goals. I firmly believe everyone can benefit from mental health therapy and I look forward to getting to know you!
